The Maumturks/Maamturks are a picturesque mountain range in Connemara. They are probably less well known than their more famous neighbours, the Twelve Bens on the other side of the Inagh Valley, but offer just as spectacular a walking and hiking experience, along with unrivaled views of the surrounding countryside. They are not very big peaks, max 702m, but offer a pleasant climb in fine weather, with superb views and no congestion on the mountain trails. Dedicated hikers often travel through the range from Maumean in the south to Leenane in the north in a single day.
The Maamturks and their elevations are as follows:
Barrslievenaroy – 702 m (2,303 ft)
Letterbreckaun – 667 m (2,188 ft)
Binn Mhor – 661 m (2,169 ft)
Binn Chaonaigh – 633 m (2,077 ft)
